Freestone Peaches

Elegant Lady - Fruit is medium and large. Blushed red over yellow skin. Flesh yellow, firm, melting, freestone with bright red at pit cavity. Ripens late July. Flowers are large and nonshowy. Tree has medium vigor and productive.

Sierra Lady - A sport of the O’Henry peach. Has a prime pick time between Elegant Lady and O’Henry. It has excellent flavor and texture, full red from base to tip, round shape with depressed tip. This freestone is an excellent freezer peach and holds up well in shipping.

O’Henry - Popular fresh market variety. Large size fruit that is a freestone, round to irregular shape. Skin color is 75% to 100% red blush. Flesh is yellow, streaked with red, superb flavor. It is very firm, stores well and is an excellent shipping peach. Because of the firmness it can be picked just twice. Strong, vigorous, heavy-bearing, self-fruitful tree.

September Henry - An extra-late freestone peach ripening mid to late September. Fruit is large, round, very firm with good color. Great eating peach ranked to be superior over other late ripening peach varieties. Hangs on the tree very well for extended pickings. Declared to be “O’Henry-like” by many fruit testers.

Cling Peaches |

Halford - Old standby with consistent heavy production. A very good canning peach, ripens uniformly. Fruit is large and firm, yellow fleshed, non-melting clingstone. Tree is vigorous, large, semi-upright to spreading. Strong limb structure. Ripens late August. Requires 800 hours of chilling. Harvests August 25th.

Santa Rosa - Japanese plum. A standard of the season, both in volume and name recognition. Fruit is medium to large, somewhat heart shaped and can lack firmness during high temperatures. Skin is a dark purplish crimson color with a yellow flesh that has a delicious flavor, fragrant, clingstone, and juicy. Eating quality is very good. Spreading tree of moderate vigor. Blossoms are self-fertile, but produce larger crops when planted with other varieties and is often used as a pollinator. Ripens June 12-20 in Fresno. Requires 300 hours of chilling. |

Stella - Large, heart-shaped, moderately firm, dark red fruit. Sweet, juicy flesh. Rich flavor. Ideal for home orchards. Very vigorous, productive tree. First self-fertile sweet cherry. Fine pollinizer for other varieties.

Bartlett - Leading pear for canning and fresh market sales. Large, golden yellow fruit with a slight blush. Smooth, juicy, tender white flesh. Partially self-fruitful.

Hailey Red - A sport of the Bartlett pear, Hailey Red is the best Red Bartlett discovered to date. It is just like the Bartlett, except it has an exceptional red color. It ripens the same time as the Bartlett. It is very juicy with white flesh. It does not need a pollinizer. Storage life is better than Bartlett, and holds red color better than other red pear varieties.

Wonderful - Large, deep purple-red fruit. Rind medium thick, tough. Flesh deep crimson in color, juicy and of a delicious flavor. Seeds not very hard. Better for juicing than for eating out of hand. Plant is vigorous and productive. Leading commercial variety in California.

Royal Blemheim -Yellow to orange-yellow. Fruit is medium-large with an orange flesh that is freestone, juicy and aromatic. Flavor is sweet and sprightly with a firm texture. It is equally valuable for canning, drying or fresh use. Early blooming. Self-fertile. Tree is very productive and can be used as a pollinizer.

Asian Pear |

20th Century - Mid-season variety. Harvest mid to late August. Fruit is medium size, with greenish-yellow skin. Flesh is white, firm, crisp, very juicy and sweet, but slightly tart. The tree is medium size, vigorous, medium upright, spreading dense and productive. Partially self-fertile, pollinate with Shinseiki, Hosui, Chojuro, Bartlett, Yali or Tsu Li. Blooms March 25th. Requires 450-500 hours of chilling.
