Unlike
most agriculture harvests, we harvest our nursery trees in the heart of winter,
when they are dormant. This is when we put into operation our unique tree digger
which digs down 24"-30". All of our trees immediately go from our
field to our grading and cold storage facility where they are put through Sierra
Gold's "UltraClean Trees" process for washing bareroot trees.
The "UltraClean" process reduces the incidence of soil-borne disease
in bareroot trees by cleaning the trees thoroughly before storing for sale to
growers. Once the trees are washed, they are graded, put into bundles of 3-10
trees per bundle according to size, and shipped directly to growers or placed
into cold storage.
