   Angelus
It is a popular variety because of its good shipping qualities. It is a large, firm peach that is round like a J.H. Hale. Fruit is a bright red over a yellow undercolor, up to 90 percent. The yellow freestone flesh is mild and low in acid content. Good for drying. Ripens just after Elberta.
   Bounty
Fruit is large and round: large (usually 65 to 75 mm, but can reach 100 mm); round. Skin 30% to 80% red blush on a yellow ground color. Flesh is yellow, non-browning, firm and a freestone with excellent flavor. Ripens uniformly, about 16 days after Redhaven. Resistant to bacterial leaf spot under normal disease pressure.
   Cresthaven
Fruit is uniform, medium to large in size, nearly round, golden yellow with a bright red blush. Firm, juicy, clear, bright yellow freestone flesh. Good canner, freezer and shipper. Tends to overset. Fair tolerance to bacterial spot. Ripens three days after Elberta. Above average bud hardiness.
   Elberta
Fruit is large, freestone, colored a deep golden yellow blushed with red. The skin is tough and the flesh yellow, while tender and juicy. An excellent pollinizer for other varieties. Excellent for desserts, canning, freezing and jam. Excellent shipper and commercial variety.
   Elegant Lady
Ripens mid-July, a few days after Flamecrest. Fruit is of large size, firm and good flavor. Skin is a bright red. An excellent producer and excellent shipping peach.
   Fairtime
Ripens a week later than the Summerset. Fruit is large, round, freestone with good flavor. Skin has a one-third red blush over yellow skin, flesh is yellow. Fine variety for the very late season.
   Fay Elberta
Large, yellow skin freestone with little red blush, that has fairly good shape and good flavor. Flesh is yellow, fine-grained with good firmness. Similar to Elberta, but blooms earlier and ripens 1 to 6 days after Elberta. A shipping and canning variety for California.
   Flavorcrest
Ripens around the same time as Redhaven. Fruit is large, round, semi-freestone with a yellow flesh that is exceptionally firm, smooth-textured and highly-flavored. The exterior color is bright red over a bright yellow ground color. Appears to be winter bud hardy. Heavy fruit set. Good shipper.
   Forty Niner
Large size fruit, skin is brightly blushed over yellow ground color that is very attractive. Flesh is yellow with excellent quality. It is a freestone ripening one week before J.H. Hale and Elberta. It resembles J.H. Hale.
   Garnet Beauty
Medium to large, slightly elongated, almost fuzzless, red fruit, similar to its parent, Redhaven. Firm, yellow, semi-freestone flesh streaked with red. Smooth fine texture. It is good for canning and freezing. Ripens 30-32 days before Elberta; 8-10 days before Redhaven. Quite bud hardy to cold temperatures.
   Giant Babcock (White)
The Gleason strain is the proven outstanding variety of excellent quality in demand by commercial canners. Fruit is large, golden-yellow with oblong shape. A brighter golden color than Elberta with little or no red blush. Matures about 8 days before Elberta.
   Gleason Elberta
White medium size fruit with a red blush, with almost fuzzless skin and white flesh. Flesh is tender, very juicy and sweet, semi-freestone flesh turns red around the pit with good quality, aromatic flavor. It is mild, with low acid. Ripens two weeks before Elberta.
   Glohaven
Large nearly round, attractive yellow freestone fruit. Very tough, mostly red skin is practically fuzzless with a deep yellow ground color. Firm yellow flesh is resistant to browning. Superior canning and freezing qualities. Excellent quality for fresh market and commercial processing. Keeps and ships very well. Ripens 14 days before Elberta.
   J.H. Hale
Old variety; still one of the best. Exceptionally large, round, uniform, freestone fruit is golden yellow overlaid with carmine. Skin is smooth and almost fuzzless. Firm, fine-grained, deep yellow flesh is free from stringiness and has delicious flavor. Good for home canning and fresh use; outstanding handling and shipping peach. Hangs well; excellent keeper. Requires pollination. Pollinate with Rio Oso Gem. Consistent producer; requires good soil. Ripens a few days before or with Elberta. Winter tender.
   Harrow Diamond
Fruit is medium in size. Skin color solid, bright red blush over 60% to 70% of surface on bright yellow ground color. Flesh is yellow, non browning, melting, medium firm, moderately sweet and juicy; freestone when fully ripe; free of split pits. Fruit ripens 1 day before Candor and Earlired. Tolerant to Leucostoma canker; resistant to bacterial spot and brown rot. Wood and buds are winter hardy like Redhaven.
   Kim Elberta
Fruit similar to Elberta. Also known as July Elberta. Ripens 14 days after Redhaven and 17 days before J.H. Hale. Fruit is medium size and round. Skin has red streaks over greenish yellow. Yellow freestone flesh is firm and fine-grained. Very good flavor.
   M.A. Blake
Medium to large, freestone fruit with a bright red blush over yellow background. Very firm, bright yellow flesh with contrasting red around the pit. Excellent flavor. Resistant to bacterial spot. Ripens one week before Elberta. Resembles J.H. Hale. Good for home canning, freezing quality is good.
   Nectar (White)
Medium to large, cream colored fruit with dark pink blush. White, freestone flesh with great taste, aroma and texture. Susceptible to bruising when ripe. Self-fertile tree with exceptional vigor, dense foliage and above average frost hardiness. Susceptible to peach leaf curl, brown rot, oriental fruit moth, peach twig borer. Ripens 22 days before Elberta. Cold hardy.
   Newhaven
Freestone with yellow flesh. Has all the qualities of Redhaven plus added brightness and sizing ability. Excellent for freezing. Reliable cropper; cold hardiness is equal to Redhaven. Starts to ripen midway in the Redhaven season; can be harvested with fewer pickings. Ripens 24 days before Elberta.
   O'Henry
It is one of the most productive varieties, and one of the leading varieties in the shipping industry and a popular fresh market variety. Large size fruit that is a freestone, round to irregular shape. Skin color is 75% to 100% red blush. Flesh is yellow, streaked with red superb flavor. It is very firm, stores well and is an excellent shipping peach. Because of the firmness it can be picked just twice. Ripens August 3-7 in Fresno.
   Red Globe
A large, round freestone fruit with light pubescence. Skin is highly blushed red over golden yellow background. Firm, yellow flesh has excellent flavor. Complete absence of red in the flesh makes it an outstanding canning peach. Bruise resistant; good shipper. Good quality. Ripens 10 to 12 days after Redhaven.
   Red Top
The fruit, medium to large in size, is a high quality, round freestone. Has an attractive red blush over ¾ of the surface when mature. The flesh is yellow, unusually firm, fine-textured and makes a good product when canned or frozen.
   Redhaven
Most widely planted peach today. Medium, nearly fuzzless fruit; color is a beautiful red and golden yellow. Flesh is firm, smooth textured and fine-flavored, becomes freestone as it ripens. Excellent for dessert, canning and freezing. Vigorous, strong growing, self-fertile tree bears young. Ripens 28-31 days before Elberta.
   Redskin
Very attractive, round large freestone. Red blush covers most of its yellow background, even in shaded areas. Firm, yellow, non-browning flesh. Exceptionally high quality for eating, canning, freezing or shipping. Ripens 4½ weeks after Redhaven.
   Regina
A very good early season variety. Fruit is medium size and round. About ¾ of the surface is covered with a bright, attractive red blush over a yellow ground color. The flesh is yellow, firm but melting, smooth textured, and of good flavor. It is a freestone when fully ripe. Ripens with Redhaven.
   Rio Oso Gem
Large, round, yellow freestone fruit with a bright red blush. Firm, fine textured, yellow flesh turning red at the pit. Noted for excellent quality, high color, firmness in shipping. Outstanding commercial value, it is best known as a highly profitable fresh market peach, but it is equally good as a canning and freezing variety. A good pollinizer for J.H. Hale. Ripens six days after Elberta.
   Roza
Fruit is large, firm freestone with medium red blush covering 80% of the surface. Flesh is deep yellow, slightly coarse in texture. Flavor is excellent for both fresh market and canning. Tree is vigorous, productive and self-fertile. It is a top quality selection for mid-season. Ripens ten days after Redhaven.
   Sierra Lady
Has a prime pick time between Elegant Lady and O’Henry. It has excellent flavor and texture, full red from base to tip, round shape with depressed tip. This freestone is an excellent freezer peach and hold up well in shipping.
   Summerset
Large, round, yellow freestone with red blush. The flesh is yellow, firm, but melting, flavorful, high quality flesh. Used for fresh, canning and freezing. Ripens in early September in Fresno.
   Suncrest
Large, round freestone, attractive that colors to about 80% bright red blush over yellow background. Flesh is yellow and exceptionally firm with good texture and flavor. Vigorous, self-fruitful, productive trees have good hardiness record where tested in Eastern sites. Susceptible to bacterial spot. Good shipper that is proving to be a good commercial market peach. Ripens about August 25.
   Topaz
Very attractive, large, round freestone with light fuzz. Color is 100% red over bright yellow background. Flesh is yellow, non-browning, very firm, high quality and good texture. Fruit hangs well and colors early. Most fruit can be picked in one picking. Ripens 20 days before Elberta.
